Household molds can trigger allergy symptoms in allergy sufferers. The best way to avoid mold is to avoid moisture! You can do this by...

  • Keep the house dry! Do not let water build up anywhere, ventilate any damp rooms, and wipe down the shower walls and doors after use.
  • Do not leave wet clothes in the washing machine.
  • Wash shower curtains and bathroom tiles with mold-killing products.
  • Do not leave too many indoor plants as mold can grow in the plant soil.
  • Fix any leaks on the house - indoors or outdoors.
  • Put plastic over dirt in crawlspaces and keep well ventilated.
  • Use exhaust fans in the bathrooms and kitchen.
  • Turn OFF humidifiers if you see condensation on the windows.
  • Use dehumidifiers and air conditioners in basements and other areas of the house where mold can grow - especially in humid climates.
  • Clear humidifiers and dehumidifiers weekly.
  • On concrete floors, remove any carpet and use area rugs that can be lifted and washed.
